Maikyau specifically condemned the attacks that occurred on Christmas Eve in Plateau State, resulting in the tragic loss of over 100 lives. He suggested that the attack might be attributed to either inadequate intelligence gathering or a deliberate failure to take preventive action.

While urging President Tinubu to ensure comprehensive governance throughout the nation, Maikyau emphasized that no part of the country should be left ungoverned. The NBA stressed the importance of a demonstrable commitment from the government in safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians.

The NBA’s statement read, “The Federal Government must adopt a holistic approach to the issue of security while not overlooking the peculiarities of each region and design bespoke measures to deal with them. In this wise, the government must neither be ‘scared’ nor ‘ashamed’ to make the right investments in security, in line with global trends in security, without compromising our sovereignty.”

Highlighting alarming statistics, The BUSHRADIOGIST reported that from May to December 2023, there were 4,258 recorded incidents of insecurity in 573 local government areas, resulting in the deaths of at least 5,691 people and the kidnapping of 2,719 individuals.

Addressing the accidental airstrike in Kaduna on December 4, 2023, Maikyau described it as inexcusable and unacceptable. He pointed out that the incident underscored the lack of synergy among security agencies in the country.

Turning attention to economic matters, the NBA President called on the government to implement additional measures to alleviate the challenges associated with subsidy removal. Additionally, he urged President Tinubu to enact budgetary reforms that would stimulate the economy without causing inflation and enhance the generation and transmission of electricity.

In conclusion, Maikyau emphasized the need for tangible efforts from the government to reassure Nigerians that their sacrifices would yield positive outcomes and alleviate their current challenges.
