Tinubu Summons NSA, Service Chiefs Over Fresh Bloodbath In Plateau, Benue More Details

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to hold a crucial meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs following his return to Abuja, amid escalating violence and killings in Plateau, Benue, and other troubled regions.

The meeting comes on the heels of the President’s 18-day working trip to Paris and London, which ended Monday night. His aircraft, Air Force 001, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at exactly 9:50 p.m., as confirmed by the State House media office.

During Tinubu’s absence since April 2, over 120 people have reportedly been killed in violent attacks, homes set ablaze, and around 3,000 residents displaced—despite ongoing military operations in affected areas.

In Benue State, twin attacks on Logo and Gbagir communities left at least 56 civilians dead, with the violence attributed to armed herdsmen.

According to multiple sources, President Tinubu is gravely concerned about the deteriorating security landscape. He is set to meet with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the service chiefs to evaluate the current situation and explore strategic responses.

A top official told The PUNCH:

“The President will definitely meet with the service chiefs to assess the country’s security situation, particularly the hotspots in Plateau, Benue, and Borno. Even while abroad, he received briefings and issued directives. Now, he’ll meet directly with his security team and ministers.”
