The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmen has made a decisive call in response to the escalating rates of kidnapping and overall insecurity within Nigeria. This stance was articulated following a meeting held in Abuja, where the forum’s secretary, Alphonsus Oga Eba, addressed the press after conferring with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.

During the briefing, Eba highlighted the gravity of the country’s security situation, emphasizing the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Kaduna State as emblematic of broader insecurity concerns. He expressed the forum’s deep apprehension, noting that such incidents not only imperil citizens’ safety but also cast a negative light on the government and the APC.

In recognizing President Tinubu’s commendable moral and financial backing of security agencies, the Forum offered a constructive suggestion. They proposed a more stringent approach to holding individuals accountable for security lapses. Eba stressed the need for decisive action from the President, urging him to wield authority over those responsible for security, including district police officers and commissioners. The Forum advocated for accountability measures, suggesting that where negligence or incompetence is evident, consequences should be swift and severe.

In essence, the Forum underscored the imperative for robust leadership in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges. They affirmed the President’s pivotal role while urging a proactive stance in addressing lapses within the security apparatus. This call for accountability reflects the Forum’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s stability and restoring confidence in governance amidst prevailing security threats.
