In an official statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, the Tinubus extended their congratulations to the Barcelona Femeni star for clinching the Best African Female Footballer of the Year award for the sixth time. They expressed admiration for Oshoala’s exceptional achievements in the world of football and lauded her substantial contributions to the advancement of women’s football on the continent.

The statement emphasized the pride Nigerian women hold globally, highlighting their accomplishments not only in football but across various fields. The Tinubus remarked, “What our ladies have achieved in football, our women are achieving in all fields of endeavor around the world—rising to the top and demonstrating the best of the Nigerian character of excellence, tenacity, ingenuity, and resilience.”

Acknowledging other notable achievements, such as star sprinter Tobi Amusan’s feats and the presence of multiple Nigerian women on Forbes’ ‘2023 World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ list, including media mogul Mo Abudu and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, President Tinubu and the First Lady assured Oshoala of the nation’s unwavering support for her and other Nigerian women striving for excellence in their chosen paths.
