Tinubu’s Christmas Rice Distribution Sparks Fierce Clash Among Senators, Representatives, And Constituency Members

Some reports suggested that the President provided funds to Senators and House of Representatives members, but lawmakers and their constituents are expressing differing perspectives.
Akin Rotimi, Spokesman and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, clarified that the legislators received palliatives, not direct monetary assistance from the President. He added that these palliatives were distributed through the Ministry of Agriculture.
Contrary to this, a presidential aide, Segun Dada, claimed on social media that President Tinubu allocated N200 million and N100 million worth of palliatives to Senators and House members, respectively. However, some lawmakers, speaking anonymously to Sunday Vanguard, denied receiving any form of gifts or money for their constituents.
Investigations across various constituencies revealed discrepancies in the distribution of the alleged palliatives. In Borno and Yobe states, residents reported not receiving any gestures from lawmakers. While some lawmakers confirmed promises from the federal government, no tangible items were provided.
Residents of Imo State, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, and Osun also expressed unawareness or denial of receiving Christmas palliatives from their representatives. Some lawmakers admitted receiving promises from the government but emphasized that no items were distributed yet.
The situation in Kwara State indicated uneven distribution, with only Senator Lola Ashiru failing to distribute palliatives for Kwara South. In Ondo, legislators claimed they hadn’t received any palliatives from President Tinubu, and in Oyo, residents expressed skepticism about receiving anything from lawmakers.
Osun reported that many lawmakers did not distribute any form of palliatives, with constituents stating they only heard about the promised relief but did not receive anything.
The confusion deepens as residents and lawmakers seek clarification on the discrepancy between promises, social media claims, and the actual distribution of the alleged Christmas palliatives.
