Toyin Abraham Breaks Silence After APC Lists Her On Campaign Council
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress campaign council, stating that she is not involved in any campaign council and intends to stay out of politics.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Abraham’s name appeared on a list released by the Lagos APC on Thursday, September 17, ahead of the inauguration of the campaign council. She was listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate alongside several other prominent entertainers.
However, the actress quickly responded to the development through her Instagram Story, making it clear that she had not agreed to serve on the campaign council.
Abraham urged members of the public to disregard her reported inclusion, stressing that she had previously made her position on political involvement known.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
The campaign council document listed Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with veteran actor Jide Kosoko named as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
Other entertainers reportedly listed under the directorate include Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
Abraham’s latest clarification comes against the backdrop of her previous public involvement in political discussions. Her support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election attracted criticism and generated significant reactions on social media.
Despite the actress’s public denial, her name was still contained in the published 33-member Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council document at the time of her statement.
