The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Isyaku Babale, aged 30, residing in Anguwan Dawaki, Bauchi Metropolis, on allegations of fatally stabbing his brother.

As disclosed by SP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement issued on Sunday in Bauchi, the arrest followed a report received by the Divisional Police Officer of the Township Police Station, Bauchi. Upon receipt of the report, detectives were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Tragically, despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).

The suspect was subsequently tracked down and apprehended near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis.

Preliminary investigations unveiled that the incident occurred on March 31, 2024, around 4:00 a.m. during an altercation between the brothers. Allegedly, the dispute erupted when the younger brother urged the elder one to cease consuming Cold Patch liquid, commonly known as ‘Sholi,’ in their shared room due to its unpleasant odor.

The confrontation escalated into physical violence, culminating in the suspect grabbing a sharp object, believed to be a knife, and fatally stabbing his brother in the abdomen.

Further probe revealed a history of recurrent violent altercations between the siblings, often involving the use of dangerous weapons.
