A 35-year-old man, Ishaya Markus, has been apprehended by the police in Adamawa state for the alleged murder of Franchise Albert during a confrontation in Fufore LGA on March 3. The victim’s wife, Libiyatu, 20, had been involved in an extramarital affair with Markus, sparking ongoing family issues since 2022.

Despite warnings from the deceased, both Libiyatu and Markus persisted in their relationship, leading to a heated confrontation. Libiyatu, after being arrested, confessed to the police, stating that the suspect continued having an affair with her, assuring her that her husband wouldn’t find out.

After resolving their family issues and Libiyatu returning home, Markus attempted to meet her again on the day of the incident. A confrontation ensued between Markus and the deceased, resulting in a bloody fight. Markus admitted to stabbing Franchise multiple times during the altercation.

The suspect, acknowledging his actions, expressed regret and pledged to support the deceased’s wife or pray for her to remarry. He pleaded for forgiveness from the police. The police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Ngurore, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered a comprehensive investigation, ensuring that the suspect will face prosecution.
