Following his victory, Tella expressed his commitment to revitalizing and strengthening the party’s influence in Ogun State. He pledged to restore the PDP’s legacy as a leading political force and emphasized that the party’s true identity is that of a governing body rather than an opposition party.
Tella asserted that the PDP’s return to power is imminent and must occur in the upcoming elections. He acknowledged the challenges the party has faced, including internal conflicts and legal disputes, but expressed optimism about reconciliation and moving forward.
“Our true identity is not that of opposition. Returning to our heritage as a ruling party is not only possible but essential for the next polls,” Tella stated. He credited the success of the recent congress to various individuals who contributed to this “God-ordained project.”
Tella also emphasized the need for collaboration, stating, “We need one another, and working together again should neither be difficult nor impossible. The 2027 project is a top priority for this newly elected executive, and it requires everyone’s participation.”
He outlined the party’s agenda, which includes implementing policies aimed at fostering internal unity and cohesion, as well as expanding membership to better serve the people of Ogun State. On August 31, 2024, Dada Awoleye had overseen the state ward congress as the caretaker chairman of the PDP, succeeding Sikirulai Ogundele, who reportedly had conflicts with Ladi Adebutu, the party’s governorship candidate in the last general election.
