Last night, a raid conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos State resulted in the reported deaths of two individuals. According to reports received on Thursday, the agency’s operatives targeted the Idioro area of Mushin during the raid, which took place on Wednesday night.

Tragically, two individuals were hit by bullets during the sporadic shooting within the residential area. Gafar Yusuf was shot in the head, while another victim, yet to be identified, was struck in the chest. Both victims succumbed to their injuries on the spot, leaving the community in shock and anger.

One resident, Olasunkanmi, expressed his concern over the incident, acknowledging the importance of NDLEA’s job in combating drug-related issues but questioning the need for such reckless shooting in a residential neighborhood. He mentioned that the operatives, numbering around 50 and some dressed in casual wear, carried out the raid, seizing illicit drugs from the targeted drug den.

As news of the incident spreads, the community is grappling with the tragic loss of life and raising questions about the conduct of the NDLEA operatives during the operation.
