However, the inclusion of Nyesom Wike has sparked controversy and warnings from various quarters. Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cautioned President Tinubu against appointing Wike as a minister.

Eze described Wike as a self-centered politician known for pursuing personal vendettas, which, he believes, could jeopardize the progress of any organization he becomes a part of. The former Governor’s track record in Rivers State was criticized, with allegations of little foreign investment during his eight-year reign and projects like the Mother and Child Hospital and the Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Center allegedly not living up to expectations.

Furthermore, Eze pointed out Wike’s ongoing case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding funds he allegedly misappropriated during his tenure as Education Minister under the Jonathan administration.

Eze stressed that Wike’s appointment as a Minister would not align with the expectations and aspirations of Nigerians. He expressed concern that the move could cause discontent among APC members and loyalists who struggled to uphold the party in Rivers State throughout the past eight years.

The warnings against Wike’s inclusion highlight the potential consequences of his appointment and underscore the divisions surrounding President Tinubu’s ministerial nominee list.
