According to BUSHRADIOGIST, operatives from the Edo State Police Command have detained two individuals on suspicion of abducting Imubhin Juliet, a pastor at Benin City’s Deeper Life Church.
Reports indicate that the suspects, identified as Brown John, 26, and Ayodele Aziz, 30, are also accused of assaulting church members during the incident.
State Police Commissioner Funsho Adegboye revealed this information to journalists in Benin City. The arrests were made by the command’s specialized team along the Benin-Auchi road, following a tip-off received two days after the reported abduction.
Imubhin Juliet recounted that during a church service, three armed individuals entered the premises, robbed worshippers of their possessions, and subsequently abducted her. They forced her to disclose her ATM pin, which they then used to withdraw money.
Commissioner Adegboye stated that the police intercepted the suspects’ vehicle, a Toyota Highlander jeep with registration number AGL739HR, on the Auchi Road, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
In an interview, one of the suspects, Brown John, denied involvement in the alleged crimes, claiming he was merely accompanying a friend to deliver a vehicle.
“My friend asked me to assist in escorting a vehicle to its destination. We were on our way when the police apprehended us. I only realized the vehicle was stolen after our arrest,” John explained.
Ayodele also refuted any participation in the criminal activities, maintaining that he was accompanying his friend innocently. However, the investigation is ongoing.
