This statement comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) summoned Ohanenye over allegations of diverting ₦138 million during her tenure as minister.
In a release on Friday, Ohanenye emphasized that the facts and information at her disposal would confirm her integrity regarding the accusation.
She asserted that she diligently served and managed available resources responsibly.
She said, “As a former public servant, I understand that inquiries into past official conduct are part of ensuring accountability. In that spirit, I voluntarily responded to the EFCC’s invitation on March 6, 2025, to address the allegations of the ₦138 million diversion.
“I arrived at the EFCC headquarters at 2:15 PM, and discussions began at 2:50 PM. During the session, I provided detailed explanations about my actions and the allocation of funds during my tenure as Minister of Women Affairs. I concluded by 6:50 PM and left thereafter.
“I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality. I appreciate the chance to address the rumors that have circulated in the media.
“I am grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve my country and positively influence the lives of many. I also thank First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her unwavering support of myself and Nigerian women.
“I remain fully committed to cooperating with the EFCC and will be available for any further inquiries. Transparency and accountability are essential for every government official.
“Throughout my time in office, my team and I worked diligently, making the best use of available resources, even supplementing with personal funds to ensure the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children.”
