The suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has denied allegations of sexual harassment, claiming that evidence linking him to the case was doctored.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ndifon made this assertion on Tuesday while testifying before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Prof. Ndifon, who was suspended amid allegations of misconduct, alleged that photos purportedly extracted from his phone by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had been altered.
During his testimony as the first defense witness (DW-1), led by his lawyer Joe Agi, SAN, Ndifon refuted claims of sending or soliciting explicit images.
“I did not send any nude photographs, nor did I request any,” he stated.
He further clarified, “This (Oppo phone) is not the device I used to communicate with her (the alleged victim). She has another number she used to chat with me.”
Ndifon also pointed out that neither his face nor that of the complainant, identified as TKJ, appeared in the contested images.
Disputed Evidence and ICPC’s Procedures
Prof. Ndifon raised concerns over the authenticity of the evidence labeled “Exhibit H,” which included photos and chats allegedly exchanged with the complainant.
“These pictures are not from my phone. Slide 661 clearly shows evidence of editing,” he argued. “I haven’t reviewed the entire document, so I cannot confirm if other parts were manipulated.”
He also criticized the ICPC for procedural shortcomings, explaining, “The ICPC did not invite me during the evidence extraction process, nor have they disclosed who brought the complaint to them. Additionally, the complainant’s phone was not analyzed to corroborate the claims.”
Ndifon maintained that the evidence presented lacked proper verification and insisted that the allegations against him were unfounded.
