Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Paikon Kore-Ibwa road in the Gwagwalada Area Council, he highlighted that ₦8.5 billion has specifically been allocated to road infrastructure in Gwagwalada alone, reflecting President Tinubu’s commitment to improving satellite towns alongside the capital city.
Acknowledging the support of the National Assembly, Wike stated, “No FCT Minister before me has had it this easy. The National Assembly has been incredibly supportive, and I extend my gratitude to the Senate President, the Speaker, and all members for their backing of the FCT. President Tinubu places great importance on the development of satellite towns, ensuring that they are not left behind in the nation’s progress.”
Highlighting key achievements, Wike pointed out the ₦8.5 billion spent on the Paikon Kore-Ibwa road project and ₦22 billion on the Aguba Palace Road, which is set to be commissioned in May 2025. He emphasized the president’s focus on balanced development, stating, “If you look at Gwagwalada alone, over ₦50 billion has been committed. Across all six area councils, the investment in satellite towns totals over ₦300 billion within one year.”
The former governor of Rivers State also emphasized that no previous FCT Minister has prioritized satellite towns as he has, aligning with President Tinubu’s vision for inclusive governance. He noted that the administration’s efforts aim to bridge the gap between the city and its satellite towns, ensuring equitable development and improving the quality of life for residents across the FCT.
