His daughter, Gift, shared with PUNCH Online that her father’s labored breathing has become audible even from outside their home. “It started in January 2024 when he found it hard to sleep and breathe easily. We initially thought it was high blood pressure, but it escalated,” she explained.

Now dependent on oxygen, the family is struggling to afford it. Gift noted, “His condition has worsened. He can’t sleep without oxygen, and he hasn’t rested properly since Monday, which is harming his health. We really need help.”

Doctors have advised that surgery is the only viable option, but the family cannot afford the costs, which total around N10 million. This financial burden has also forced two of her siblings to pause their education. “My father was the family’s breadwinner, and now he can’t even farm. My mother’s income from farming isn’t enough to cover household needs and medical expenses,” Gift lamented.
