VeryDarkMan Retreats From P-Square Feud After Heavy Backlash
Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has announced his withdrawal from the ongoing family dispute involving members of the defunct music group P-Square, following criticism over his intervention in the matter.
The activist made the announcement in a video shared on Sunday, days after several Nigerians on social media urged him to stay out of the lingering dispute between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
The P-Square family crisis has remained a subject of public debate for months, with fans and other Nigerians expressing differing views on the issues that led to the strained relationship between the brothers and their former manager.
VeryDarkMan had earlier come under criticism after publicly defending Jude and questioning some of the allegations made by Peter against his twin brother and their former manager.
His intervention generated widespread reactions online, with some Nigerians accusing him of taking sides in a dispute that has continued to divide followers of the popular music family.
However, in his latest video, VeryDarkMan explained that his comments were not intended to support one side against the other. He said his views were based on information he gathered after listening to different perspectives on the dispute.
According to the activist, the crisis could not be attributed to a single individual, as several people contributed to the breakdown of the relationship among the family members.
VeryDarkMan said that after examining the issues surrounding the dispute, he believed Jude Okoye also bore some responsibility for the deterioration of the relationship between the brothers.
He specifically faulted Jude for allegedly refusing to relinquish his position as P-Square’s manager after Peter reportedly called for his removal over allegations of financial mismanagement.
The activist said he would attribute 40 per cent of the blame for the crisis to Jude, arguing that his alleged refusal to step down as manager when concerns were raised contributed significantly to the tensions that later engulfed the family.
However, VeryDarkMan stressed that responsibility for the dispute should not be placed entirely on Jude.
He noted that Peter, his wife, other family members and several individuals connected to the matter also played roles in the conflict.
VeryDarkMan maintained that his intervention was intended to offer a balanced assessment of the dispute rather than defend any particular individual.
He said his objective was to encourage a fair examination of the issues surrounding the P-Square crisis and not to further damage the already strained relationship among the family members.
Announcing his decision to withdraw from the matter, VeryDarkMan said he would no longer comment on the family dispute.
The activist explained that he had decided to move on from the controversy and concentrate on other issues requiring his attention.
He added that his focus would now shift to preparing for his appearance before a police panel over allegations he previously made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Jimoh Moshood.
