Following the official inauguration of ministers by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wike wasted no time addressing the recurring issues of land encroachments in Abuja. In his statement to the press, he said, “If you know you have built where you are not supposed to build, it will go down, be you a minister or an ambassador, your house will go down.”
Wike emphasized the sanctity of the Abuja master plan, pointing out the illegalities that have distorted its original design. “People who are distorting the master plan of Abuja, your houses will go down,” he warned, adding that, “People who have built on green areas, your houses will go down.” CONTINUE READING
His warning serves as a reminder that the law remains supreme and no position or title can shield one from its consequences when it comes to illegal constructions. It remains to be seen how this will play out in the coming months, but with Wike at the helm, a strict approach to the land issues in Abuja seems imminent.
