VIDEO: Drama At Funeral As Florence Ajimobi Allegedly Snubs Gov. Abiodun Despite Plea

Published

The widow of the late Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, Florence Ajimobi, has sparked reactions online after she appeared to snub Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun at a public gathering.

The incident was captured during the funeral service of Adeniyi Adeosun, the late husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who recently passed away.

During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zach Adedeji, was seen attempting to bring Florence Ajimobi and Abiodun together, apparently in an effort to facilitate a reconciliation.

However, when Abiodun approached Florence to exchange pleasantries, she reportedly turned her back on the governor and declined to acknowledge him, creating an awkward moment that was captured on video.

The incident has since generated reactions among social media users, with many speculating about the reason behind the apparent cold reception.

Abiodun Speaks on Support for Gbenga Daniel

Meanwhile, Abiodun has revealed that he was advised against supporting former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel in the 2023 senatorial election amid concerns that Daniel could eventually turn against him.

The governor made the disclosure in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade.

Despite the warnings, Abiodun said he chose to support Daniel because of his respect for him as a former governor and his belief that political differences should not erase the respect owed to former occupants of public office.

Abiodun reportedly made the remarks while receiving members of Daniel’s political family and supporters of the late Buruji Kashamu into the mainstream of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta.

The governor explained that he supported Daniel because he believed it was important to honour former leaders, noting that he would also become a former governor someday.

Abiodun also recalled an occasion when, according to him, Daniel expressed uncertainty over who would emerge as Ogun State governor, despite one of the leading contenders being a member of Daniel’s political party.
