The disruption occurred at the Lushville Hotel and Suite in GRA, Benin, where the event was being held. Despite the announcement of results from eight local government areas, chaos erupted during live telecast when journalists were abruptly instructed to evacuate the premises.

Numerous reports detailed how a group of individuals, suspected to be political thugs, forcefully entered the venue and targeted journalists present. Among those affected were a cameraman from NTA and a reporter from FRCN, who were subjected to physical assault while their equipment was vandalized.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of media personnel covering political events and highlights the volatile nature of election processes in the region.
