According to Vanguard, the revered icon of Nigerian football died on Saturday, April 11, 2025, though the exact circumstances of his death have not yet been disclosed.
It will be recalled that in 2021, rumours falsely claimed Chukwu had died. The legendary coach swiftly debunked the misinformation during his 70th birthday celebration on January 4, 2021, expressing his dismay:
“I was deeply embarrassed by the false news of my death. Since it broke, I’ve received countless calls from across the globe. I’m still looking into where the story originated.”
Fondly called “Chairman,” Christian Chukwu earned admiration both as a formidable player and as a coach.
