Warri Pikin Sparks Reactions, Apologises After Timaya Carried Her On Stage
Nigerian comedian and actress, Real Warri Pikin, has publicly apologised following a viral moment involving singer Timaya during a recent performance, saying she takes full responsibility for how the situation unfolded.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Warri Pikin was backstage enjoying Timaya’s performance when the singer invited a female fan to join him on stage while performing his hit song, “Ukwu.” She explained that she immediately went forward after hearing the invitation, unaware of what would happen next.
The entertainer said she initially resisted when Timaya attempted to lift her during the performance. According to her, she was reluctant and tried to decline the request, but eventually found herself participating in the viral moment.
Warri Pikin, who is married to Ikechukwu, disclosed that her husband was upset about the incident. She added that she is currently in the United States, making it difficult for them to address the situation in person.
Appealing to Nigerians not to be too hard on her, the comedian admitted that she had placed herself in the situation and accepted responsibility for her actions. She explained that she had simply been enjoying the performance backstage and rushed out when Timaya called for a woman to join him.
She further clarified that she did not know the singer would carry the woman who came on stage, adding that she would have remained backstage if she had known what was going to happen.
Warri Pikin also urged those who criticised her over the viral clip to forgive her, stressing that she had not intended to create controversy and had only been caught up in the excitement of the performance.
The incident has continued to generate reactions online, with social media users commenting on the entertainer’s explanation and her revelation about her husband’s reaction.
