2027 Election: NNPP Rejects G-100 Coalition, Reveals Next Political Move

The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Agbo Major, has clarified the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that the NNPP is not part of the G-100 political coalition.

Major made the clarification on Sunday during an interview with Arise Television, where he also disclosed that the party is currently without a presidential candidate for the 2027 election as it continues consultations with other political parties.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the NNPP had initially nominated a presidential candidate but later withdrew the candidate from the race due to what Major described as logistical and administrative challenges.

The party chairman explained that the decision to remain without a presidential candidate at the moment was also connected to ongoing discussions and consultations aimed at determining the NNPP’s political direction ahead of the 2027 polls.

Major said the party was carefully reviewing its available options and would soon convene a meeting to take a definitive decision on its next political move.

He further stressed that the NNPP is not a member of the G-100 coalition, describing the coalition’s emergence as an experiment whose effectiveness would become clearer with time.

The NNPP chairman also raised concerns about the calibre of political figures associated with the coalition and questioned whether the various interests involved would eventually be able to agree on a single presidential candidate.

According to him, one of the biggest challenges facing any proposed alliance would be determining which prominent aspirant would withdraw from the presidential race in favour of another candidate if the parties eventually reach an agreement.

Major maintained that the NNPP would continue to assess the political landscape and consult with relevant stakeholders before announcing its final position on the 2027 election.
