In his address on Wednesday, Tinubu recognized the hardships faced by Nigerians due to the recent removal of the fuel subsidy. He also acknowledged the delays between the subsidy removal and the implementation of his administration’s plans, which he admitted have compounded the current difficulties.

“Fellow Nigerians, while this period may be challenging and tough, I encourage you to focus on the bigger picture and the promising future ahead. Our beneficial plans are in progress, and I am confident they will be successful. Unfortunately, there was an avoidable gap between the subsidy removal and the full implementation of these plans,” Tinubu stated.

The president reassured Nigerians that his government’s actions are designed to resolve the ongoing economic issues and called for trust in his administration’s ability to effect positive change.

“I urge you to trust in our commitment to your well-being and our capacity to deliver. We will navigate through these turbulent times, and the measures we’ve implemented will prepare Nigeria for a brighter future.

“For instance, we will honor our commitment to make education more accessible and offer loans to students in need. No Nigerian student will have to leave higher education due to financial constraints.

“Our goal is to ensure the greatest benefit for the most people. We are steadfast in our mission, and I assure you that we are moving from darkness to a new and promising dawn. Now, I will return to work to realize this vision,” he added.

This statement marks the second time President Tinubu has addressed the nation amidst ongoing tensions in various regions.
