We Won’t Fail You!” — Adeleke Makes Bold Promises To Osun People After Re-Election

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to justify the confidence placed in him by the people of the state following his re-election for a second term.

Adeleke said his administration would build on its achievements while addressing areas where it had fallen short, promising a renewed commitment to good governance and development.

The governor made the pledge on Sunday while speaking with journalists shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared him the winner of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, said the outcome had brought an end to months of political tension and pressure experienced by residents ahead of the poll.

He dedicated his victory to the people of Osun State, commending their resilience and commitment to democracy.

“In the last few months, Osun people have been under very intense pressure. Today, the issues are settled by the grace of God and people.

“I, therefore, dedicate this victory to the good people of Osun State. I deeply appreciate your resilience, your strong will, and your unwavering commitment to democracy.”

Adeleke said his re-election had provided another opportunity to improve on his administration’s performance by strengthening areas where it had made progress and addressing identified shortcomings.

According to him, his second term would be guided by a renewed five-point agenda focused on improving governance and accelerating development across the state.

“As you have trusted me again for the second term in office, I will not disappoint you. To serve you better, I will reinforce my strong points and correct my errors under my renewed five-point agenda,” he said.

The governor also expressed appreciation to individuals and groups within and outside Nigeria who supported what he described as the struggle for democracy in Osun.

He said the support had strengthened his confidence in democratic governance.

“To all lovers of democracy, I thank you for supporting our struggle from home and abroad. The support is overwhelming. My faith in democracy is deepened,” Adeleke said.

He further commended members of the media for their coverage of events surrounding the election, noting that their reporting contributed to the democratic process.

“Most importantly, I thank the media for standing by me, by us. The constant coverage in support of democracy emboldened us. We are grateful,” he added.

Looking ahead, Adeleke said his administration would intensify efforts to expand development and strengthen good governance across Osun State.

He also extended an olive branch to his opponents, calling for unity and cooperation now that the election had been concluded.

“Osun State is on the march again. We shall expand development and widen the net of good governance. In this race, there is no victor, no vanquished. I extend my olive branch to my co-contestants. I am the governor of all Osun State people,” he said.

Adeleke also reiterated his long-term vision of transforming Osun from a state largely dependent on the civil service into an industrial and investment destination capable of attracting both local and foreign investors.

“My vision: taking Osun from a civil service state to an industrial state and an investment destination,” he said.
