Agbo stated that the matter of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Kanu, had already received ample attention, with significant calls for his release from various regional stakeholders.

In an interview on Sunday with Channels TV, Agbo explained that Governor Peter Mbah, who hosted President Tinubu on his first official state visit in 2025, focused on showcasing the state’s ongoing development projects rather than revisiting the already discussed issue of Kanu’s release.

He said, “The issue of Nnamdi Kanu has been raised in various forums. Many people, including Ohanaeze Ndigbo, governors, and others, have spoken out and made requests concerning Kanu. Governor Mbah had a prime opportunity to highlight Enugu State’s development, including its infrastructural progress and the use of technology to drive growth.”

Agbo emphasized that there was no need to repeat the discussions on Kanu’s release, as it had been sufficiently addressed. He added, “The Governor wisely focused on promoting the state’s development, educational initiatives, technology use in crime fighting, and infrastructure. The President’s time in Enugu was used effectively to highlight these important matters, rather than revisit issues that had already been extensively discussed.”
