Reflecting on his journey, Cabasa shared, “I did medicine for two years, then went on to study economics. After completing my master’s, I gained experience working in two Nigerian banks before making the transition to the music industry.” He went on to explain that despite pressure from his parents to become a doctor, he knew that medicine was not his true calling. Subsequently, he changed his academic course, enrolling at Lagos State University to pursue economics.
Cabasa elaborated on his early encounters with the arts, stating, “I couldn’t study music at the time because it wasn’t recognized as a viable career, unlike today. Initially, I engaged in music purely for the passion it ignited in me. Despite my focus on economics, I always harbored the certainty that music was my ultimate calling. Interestingly, if I were to reveal that music wasn’t the first artistic pursuit I ventured into, people might find it hard to believe—it was initially acting.
