Why Tinubu Should Suspend Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project Now – Chidoka....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former aviation minister, Osita Chidoka, has urged President Bola Tinubu to halt the controversial Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, citing concerns over its funding and procurement process.

The Federal Government recently initiated the construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal road, contracted to Hitech Construction Company Ltd. However, the project has faced significant criticism from Nigerians, particularly opposition leaders such as Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Chidoka proposed alternative measures, suggesting the improvement of Nigeria’s inland waterways and the establishment of small seaports along coastal areas for efficient goods transportation.

Highlighting the lack of transparency in the project’s contract award process, Chidoka emphasized the need for public scrutiny and competitive bidding to ensure accountability. He questioned the feasibility of securing financing for the project without adhering to proper procedures, raising doubts about its financial sustainability.

Chidoka’s call for suspending the project reflects broader concerns within the Nigerian public regarding the government’s handling of infrastructure development initiatives and the necessity for transparency and accountability in such endeavors.
