The substantial support, totaling 427,750,000 Naira, is a crucial component of RHI’s social investment program aimed at enhancing the well-being of vulnerable segments of the population.
In the distribution of the relief packages to beneficiaries representing diverse regions of the country, the First Lady, through her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, acknowledged the challenging paths faced by these widows as spouses of brave soldiers.
She underscored the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by their fallen breadwinners in defense of the nation and stressed the necessity of rewarding such sacrifices with comprehensive welfare measures.
The First Lady expressed optimism that the intervention would provide a degree of relief to the recipients and called upon other stakeholders to consider the dependents of deceased soldiers.
She remarked, “Under the Social Investment Program of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), we are here to empower 1,709 widows with the sum of N250,000 each.
This will enable you to recapitalize an existing business or start a business of your choice to enable you to care for your families. We recognize that widows are not victims; they are survivors.
