Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Wike scoffed at Amaechi’s remarks, revealing that the former Rivers State Governor owns a mansion in Abuja that clearly contradicts his so-called modesty.

Wike stated, “He says I have houses. But Amaechi was Speaker for eight years, Governor for another eight, and Minister for another eight—yet he claims he owns no houses? That’s not modesty; that’s a spiritual problem.”

He warned Nigerians to be wary of individuals who falsely present themselves as saints. “These are the same people who deceive the public daily while pretending to be upright,” he said.

Wike pointed specifically to a house allegedly owned by Amaechi in the upscale Guzape area of Abuja. “You’d need a bunker to bring that house down,” Wike said, adding that no poor man could possibly afford such a property.

He continued, “He says he has no properties—then where’s the house in Old GRA from? Who built it? He complains about NPA and NIMASA not paying contractors, but perhaps it’s because his wife—who is also a contractor—hasn’t been paid.”
