Former presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Martin Onovo, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is orchestrating internal crises in opposition parties as part of a grand strategy to retain power in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with The Sun, Onovo pointed to the turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of being an undercover APC agent operating within the PDP.

Onovo claimed that it is common knowledge among political stakeholders that the APC is deliberately destabilizing opposition parties by backing factional leaders. He warned that the ruling party’s alleged attempt to impose compromised figures on rival platforms is part of a broader plot to secure endorsements for President Tinubu’s re-election.

“The ruling party is the rogue force behind the turmoil in opposition parties,” Onovo said. “This is well known to insiders. In the case of the PDP, it’s especially obvious. Wike, a known APC sympathizer, serves as a minister under Tinubu, yet parades himself as a PDP leader.”

He continued, “The APC has failed woefully and knows it cannot win in a fair contest. It wants to turn Nigeria into a one-party state by neutralizing genuine opposition. Their strategy is to hijack other parties with puppet leaders who will back Tinubu. Some are already doing so. This mirrors the late Gen. Abacha’s failed effort to entrench dictatorship through his ‘five leprous fingers’ of political parties. Just as Abacha failed, so will Tinubu and his loyalists. Those defecting to the APC will be sorely disappointed in 2027.”

Onovo also spoke on the principle of rotational presidency, asserting that it remains a critical pillar of Nigeria’s political balance.

“Power rotation between the North and South is as important as the federal character principle,” he said. “In 2027, the presidency must stay in the South, but certainly not with Tinubu or the APC. Both have failed the nation.”
