In an address to his supporters in Rivers over the weekend, Wike openly admitted his fallibility as a human being and recognized that not all of his decisions were flawless. He expressed remorse for the consequences of his actions and sought forgiveness from the citizens, acknowledging the negative outcome of his choice.

“I’m not here to claim perfection or infallibility in decision-making. I am human,” Wike stated. “There have been instances where my decisions may not resonate with everyone, but in my position, I succumbed to certain influences. If these decisions, including the imposition of Fubara, have resulted in unfavorable outcomes, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive me,” he added.

The reconciliation process was initiated by President Bola Tinubu, who intervened to mediate between Wike and Fubara. The acknowledgment of Wike’s mistake and his public apology serve as an attempt to mend fences with the people of Rivers State and foster a spirit of forgiveness and understanding.
