Wike provided this advice during a meeting in Abuja with the executive members of CAN, led by its national president, Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, and the committee of Imams, led by Chairman Imam Tajudeen Adegun.
During separate discussions with the religious leaders, the minister pointed out that power-hungry politicians might resort to divisive tactics for their personal gain. He urged the religious leaders to be cautious of politicians who were overly desperate for power, emphasizing the need to verify information rather than solely relying on social media.
Wike told the CAN representatives, “Be mindful of politicians. Be cautious of politicians who exhibit an excessive thirst for power. Not everything you come across on social media is accurate. Seek clarification.”
He encouraged them to approach the FCT administration if they had questions or concerns about government actions, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue to defend the government’s stance and reputation.
