In a viral video, Professor Soyinka addressed some monarchs at a gathering, assuring them that he had no intention of commanding them to ‘stand up and sit down,’ eliciting laughter from the audience.

The incident in question involved Obasanjo chastising Oyo’s traditional rulers for allegedly failing to show him proper respect during an event hosted by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The former Nigerian leader was invited to commission a project, but he expressed his displeasure at the traditional rulers’ lack of a warm welcome.

Obasanjo’s actions received widespread criticism for disrespecting traditional institutions and the Yoruba people. In the recent video, Professor Soyinka, an Egba kinsman like Obasanjo, joined Nigerians in gently poking fun at the former president.
