Bello’s ascension, following the demise of Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, sparked a mix of emotions. Questions arose about whether his youth and non-Igala background would bring a positive change to the state’s governance. Some even attributed his emergence to providence, suggesting a spiritual dimension.

Amidst legal challenges – Bello faced three different cases, all reaching the Supreme Court – his initial days in office were marred by judicial hurdles, delaying his ability to fully focus on governance. Bello faced battles on various fronts, including legislative changes, staff audits affecting salary payments, and legitimacy disputes within the political class.

However, as Bello approached the end of his first term, he underwent a transformation. Recognizing the need for maturity and accountability to the people, he shifted his focus from pleasing political figures to working for the greater good.
