In a statement from Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Media and Press Affairs to the Governor, Buni highlighted his administration’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging for all citizens of Yobe. “We will not allow cultural, ethnic, political, social status, or religious differences to define our identity or dictate our unity as a people,” he emphasized.

The Governor assured the citizens that his administration will continue to prioritize education to enhance human capital development and accelerate the state’s progress. “I want to reassure the good people of Yobe State that we are committed to providing the necessary infrastructure, manpower, and covering examination fees for every child, aiming to ensure free education for all school-aged children in the state,” he stated.

He expressed pride that Baba Fika’s conferment as SAN coincides with the administration’s significant investments in professional and specialized courses, including law, to revitalize education in Yobe.

Buni reported that the declaration of a State of Emergency in education has led to notable improvements in student performance in external examinations, enabling them to qualify for admission to tertiary institutions both locally and internationally.

Over the past four years, the state government has supported more than 500 law graduates in obtaining professional certificates at the Nigerian Law School. This year alone, 221 law graduates were sponsored with registration fees of N475,000 and received laptops. Additionally, candidates pursuing other professional courses, such as medical sciences and accountancy, have also been supported by the state.

He noted that the state government had previously sponsored 233 students, primarily from low-income families, to study in India. Recently, the state celebrated the return of 171 graduates in various fields, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Computer Science, and Engineering, with an additional 62 students still completing their studies.

Currently, more than 38,000 Yobe State students are on government sponsorship for first degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates in universities, colleges, and polytechnics. Furthermore, over 400 students have received scholarships to study in countries like the United Kingdom, Egypt, the United States, Malaysia, Jordan, Turkey, and Russia.

Yobe State has the potential to emerge as a leading center for law practice in Nigeria. Finally, I urge everyone to support Barrister Baba Dala Fika, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in his endeavors to elevate our beloved state.
