You’d Want To Take Poison And D!e – Pete Edochie Warns Men Against Depending On Wives

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has cautioned men against becoming financially dependent on their wives, warning that relying on a spouse for basic financial support could become a deeply troubling situation for a man.

According to reports, the veteran actor made the remarks during an appearance on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, where he discussed marriage, relationships and traditional family roles.

Edochie advised men not to find themselves in a position where they depend on their wives to provide for them financially. He argued that such a situation could have serious emotional consequences for a man.

“Don’t pray for your wife to feed you. If you get into such a situation, you’d like to take poison and die,” he said.

The actor also shared his views on the practice of men kneeling while proposing marriage. According to him, the gesture goes beyond a romantic expression and could symbolically suggest that a man is surrendering his position as head of the family even before the marriage begins.

Edochie stated that kneeling to present an engagement ring could be interpreted as conceding family leadership to the woman.

“I will not take it back. Have you ever asked yourself why marriages don’t last in Western countries? Oh yeah, but that’s the reason,” he added.

He further argued that divorce laws in some Western countries could result in a significant portion of a couple’s assets being divided between spouses following the dissolution of a marriage.

The veteran actor’s comments have sparked conversations about financial independence, gender roles, marriage traditions and the changing expectations of couples in modern relationships.
