Secretary to the State Government, Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, explained that the fee was initially collected by the state’s Civil Service Commission on behalf of independent examiners responsible for supervising the applicants’ examination. He noted that while the ₦10,000 fee has been a long-standing standard, the government decided to waive it due to current economic conditions.
A statement issued on the Ogun State Government’s X account on Thursday stated: “Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has directed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission to refund all administrative fees related to the ongoing civil service recruitment. This decision was communicated through a statement from the Secretary to the State Government to the Commission Chairman. Despite the historical nature of these fees, the government has chosen to remove them as a gesture of goodwill in light of the economic climate and the recruitment’s goal to ease citizens’ hardships and create employment. Consequently, all fees paid will be refunded, and future application fees will be waived.
