⚽ Rivers United, Bayelsa United Set For Fiery Niger Delta Derby As NPFL Matchday 8 Heats Up

All eyes will turn to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt today as Rivers United and Bayelsa United rekindle their fiery Niger Delta rivalry in one of the headline fixtures of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 8.

Often tagged a battle of pride, grit, and regional supremacy, this clash has delivered plenty of drama in recent years. Bayelsa United hold the upper hand, having won their last three encounters — including a hard-fought 1–0 victory in Port Harcourt last November.

However, Rivers United approach this derby as firm favourites. Under Coach Finidi George, the Pride of Rivers are unbeaten in their last eight league matches and boast one of the strongest defences in the NPFL, having kept seven consecutive clean sheets across all competitions.
