Speaking with journalists amid rumours that he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC, Fintiri stressed that politics is ultimately about serving the people. He noted that he would align with whatever decision reflects the majority view of Adamawa residents.

“There are many rumours about whether I will defect to the APC or not. If that is what my people want, I will not oppose it, because politics is about the people,” he said.

The governor also criticised those he described as “political merchants,” accusing them of spreading tension and speculation about his next move. He suggested that such individuals are motivated by fear and personal interests rather than the overall good of the state.

According to him, his administration has strengthened grassroots support through infrastructure development, human capital investment, and other projects across Adamawa. He said these efforts have improved security and boosted public confidence.

“Adamawa is secure because we have built strong connections through development and infrastructure, especially in human capital. If my people ask me to remain, I will stay and I will win,” he added.

Fintiri maintained that the performance of his government and the delivery of democratic dividends would ultimately determine its political success. He emphasised that governance and service remain his top priorities, regardless of party affiliation.

“Wherever we go, what matters most is that we have delivered, and we will win,” he said.
