2027: Kaduna APC Tells Atiku To Abandon Presidential Ambition, Back Tinubu

Published

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to abandon his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election and instead support President Bola Tinubu.

The party argued that Atiku could struggle to secure the support of Northern voters, claiming that the turnout at Tinubu’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday demonstrated growing support for the incumbent president across the region.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the Kaduna APC Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Sani Haruna, made the appeal on Monday during a press briefing, where he maintained that the political situation was increasingly unfavourable to Atiku.

Haruna urged the former vice president to reconsider his presidential ambition, insisting that the crowd at Tinubu’s campaign event reflected the North’s willingness to support the president ahead of the 2027 general election.

“I am categorically calling on him to withdraw from the race. Already, the odds are against him,” Haruna declared.

The APC spokesman also dismissed allegations that organisers paid people to attend the rally or used artificial intelligence to generate images and videos suggesting a larger crowd than was physically present.

According to Haruna, some supporters arrived at the venue and spent the night ahead of the event, which he cited as evidence of the enthusiasm surrounding Tinubu’s campaign.

The Kaduna APC maintained that the turnout represented a significant show of support for the president and challenged Atiku to reassess his political prospects before proceeding with his 2027 ambition.

However, the party’s claims about Northern support for Tinubu reflect its own political position, and the rally turnout alone does not establish how voters across the region will ultimately vote in the 2027 election.
