Speaking to journalists on Sunday in Abuja, Sani criticized the coalition’s makeup, alleging that it is populated by disgruntled politicians pursuing personal agendas rather than national interest.

“We need a credible and vibrant opposition to prevent the country from slipping into dictatorship or a one-party state,” Sani warned. “But what we have now is a canopy of angry, frustrated individuals with no genuine concern for the people.”

He singled out former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of hypocrisy. According to Sani, El-Rufai has held several high-ranking positions — including Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Minister, and Governor — yet failed to make meaningful impact during his years in power.

“Nigeria just marked 26 years of democracy. El-Rufai has been in the corridors of power for most of those years. Why didn’t he implement his supposed solutions back then?” Sani queried.

The former senator also advised Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and perennial presidential candidate, to step aside and support a younger, fresher face in the race for 2027.

“Atiku should understand that repeated runs with repeated failures come at a cost. It’s time to back someone else,” he concluded.
