The repatriation process occurred in two separate flights. The initial batch of 161 returnees arrived in Nigeria on August 21, 2023, followed by a second flight carrying 137 individuals which touched down on Monday.
The second group of returnees was brought back via an Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft with registration number 5A-DMG. The plane landed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, around 5:38 p.m. on Monday.
Mr. Farinloye stated, “Upon their return, these individuals shared heart-wrenching accounts of the harrowing experiences they endured while confined in Libyan prisons.”
Notably, these returnees had found themselves stranded in Libya while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea in pursuit of entering Europe, as reported by DAILY POST.
