Man Arrested For Suicide Attempt In Abuja Released On Bail Post Mental Health Assessment

According to Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, as reported on X.com on Friday, Yushau’s release follows a comprehensive mental assessment conducted by the FCTA SDS. The assessment affirmed his mental stability but noted symptoms of anxiety, persistent worry, and fears during his evaluation.

Adeh further explained that based on the recommendations from the FCTA SDS, which included ongoing psycho-social care and support, Yushau was granted bail under the supervision of his lawyer.

She stated, “On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the FCT police command released Alhaji Yushau Shuaibu on bail to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. Shuaibu, who was arrested for climbing the Aso Radio mast in protest against insecurity and hardship, underwent a mental assessment confirming his stability.”

Yushau gained attention after scaling the Aso Radio mast to draw attention to national issues such as insecurity and economic challenges, which he had been monitoring closely before his daring protest.
