In separate statements issued on Saturday, Abbas and Kalu pledged that the 10th House of Representatives would collaborate with the judiciary to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

Abbas stated, “I congratulate Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun on her swearing-in as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria on Friday. Given her distinguished background, I am confident that she will implement reforms that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our judicial system. The 10th House is prepared to work closely with the judiciary under her leadership to further deepen our democracy. I wish the Acting CJN a successful tenure and urge her to uphold the principles of fairness and justice in this critical national role. I also commend Justice Ariwoola for his efforts in reforming the judiciary and wish him a happy retirement.”

Deputy Speaker Kalu, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of judicial reforms and emphasized the House’s commitment to working with the new Acting CJN. “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun on her appointment as Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. With her impeccable track record, I am confident that she will drive essential legal reforms that will positively impact our entire justice system. As the Chairman of the House Committee on Constitutional Review, I look forward to working together to achieve the necessary judicial reforms that will deepen democratic practice and the rule of law in Nigeria.
