Police Announce $1 Million Reward In 2015 Murder Case Of Woman Killed On PhoneA $1 million reward has been announced for information leading to the resolution of the 2015 murder of Prabha Arun Kumar, an Indian mother killed in Sydney, Australia.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kumar, a 41-year-old IT worker, was fatally stabbed on Saturday, March 7, 2015, while walking through Parramatta Park and talking on the phone with her husband. She had just taken a train to Parramatta Railway Station after finishing work in Rhodes, arriving around 9:30 PM.

As she walked across the poorly lit park, just 400 meters from her home in Westmead, she was attacked and stabbed in the neck. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Kumar succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Following the incident, a crime scene was established, and detectives launched an investigation. Homicide Commander Danny Doherty indicated that, while no main suspect has been identified, the attack appeared to be targeted.

“We can almost exclude robbery as a motive and there’s no evidence of a sexually motivated or bias-related attack,” Doherty stated. “Whoever was responsible for Prabha’s death intended to kill her.”

While Kumar’s husband, who was in India at the time of her murder, remains a person of interest, authorities have yet to establish evidence linking him to the stabbing. Investigators have also considered the possibility that the murder was planned overseas.

Doherty emphasized that there are other potential persons of interest, highlighting that the person responsible for the murder remains at large. He noted that Kumar’s husband was reportedly having an affair at the time of her death.

Detectives are examining who might have benefited from Kumar’s death, as she was the primary breadwinner for her family, sending money back to India.

Despite pursuing various leads and making public appeals for information, the case has remained unsolved. Now, the New South Wales government and police have announced a $1 million reward for anyone who can provide critical information regarding the nearly decade-old murder.

Doherty expressed that Kumar’s family deserves to know what happened to her. “They have not forgotten Prabha; they want this matter resolved,” he said. “It’s important for them, as well as for her friends, to get answers about her death.”
