The statement noted, “The Federal Government has released funds for the payment of withheld salaries to Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities. Payments have started, and numerous members have confirmed they have received their dues.”

The Accountant-General’s office reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers and retirees.

This announcement comes in the wake of an indefinite strike initiated by the Joint Action Committee of SSANU and NASU over four months of unpaid salaries, which has paralyzed activities at universities nationwide.

In a recent interview, SSANU President Mohammed Ibrahim indicated that key university staff, including vice-chancellors and registrars, have not been paid for four months, leading to the decision to keep universities closed until full payments are made.
