In response to the tragedy, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed grave concern over the widespread issue of poor vehicle maintenance on Nigerian roads. He emphasized that adherence to traffic laws, including regular vehicle inspections and obeying speed limits, could have prevented the accident.
“If the driver had adhered to the legal speed limits, ensured proper vehicle maintenance, and followed traffic regulations, this crash could have been avoided,” Mohammed warned. Mohammed also stressed the shared responsibility of all road users in maintaining safe driving practices to prevent similar accidents in the future.
