In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the command disclosed that intelligence reports suggested that remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists could attempt isolated attacks during the festive period.

According to the statement, the terrorists may target civilian areas with suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices, especially in crowded public places.

The command, however, noted that the Theatre Command had already anticipated the threats and put countermeasures in place. Troops have reportedly been deployed to critical and vulnerable locations across all sectors, while surveillance and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets have been fully activated. Patrol operations have also been intensified.

Operation Hadin Kai added that security agencies are collaborating closely with sister security bodies, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and community vigilance groups to prevent any security breach during the celebrations.

“Ahead of Wednesday’s celebrations, troops have been forward-deployed to critical and vulnerable locations across all sectors of the Theatre, surveillance and ISR assets have been fully activated, patrols have been intensified, and security forces are operating in close coordination with sister agencies, the CJTF, and community vigilance groups to forestall any threat and guarantee a secure festive period for all residents,” the statement said.

Residents Urged To Remain Alert

The military advised residents to observe Eid prayers and celebrations within their communities and close to their homes whenever possible. It also encouraged the public to avoid large gatherings where practicable and remain vigilant in crowded locations such as markets, motor parks, banks, and prayer grounds.

Residents were urged to promptly report suspicious individuals, unattended items, or unusual activities to nearby military checkpoints, police stations, or civil-military liaison offices.

The command further appealed for cooperation with security personnel during stop-and-search operations and patrols. It warned against unnecessary movement, particularly at night or in areas with limited security coverage, while also cautioning the public against spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

Operation Hadin Kai also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organisations, and community stakeholders to support security efforts by encouraging timely reporting of credible intelligence.

Reassuring residents of the North-East, the military stated that troops remain fully prepared and on high alert to ensure peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

“The Command remains resolute in its determination to deny terrorists any freedom of action and ensure that the Eid El Kabir celebrations proceed in an atmosphere of peace, safety, and dignity for all,” the statement added.
