In a Facebook post shared on Sunday, the lawmaker described the incident as a “premeditated ambush,” warning that political violence must not be allowed to undermine democratic processes.

She said the incident took place on Thursday, 21 May 2026, at the ADC State Secretariat in Gudu, where she was present to observe the distribution of materials for the party’s National Assembly primaries.

According to her, proceedings were initially peaceful until a man identified as Tijani Mubarak arrived with a group of men and disrupted the exercise.

Kingibe stated that tensions rose after Mubarak allegedly became hostile during interactions with the election committee chairman.

“The moment he introduced himself, the Chairman asked if he was the individual who had been calling earlier in the day. Instantly, Mubarak became aggressively rude,” she said.

She further alleged that the situation escalated when Mubarak slapped the committee chairman after being challenged over his conduct.

The senator also claimed that a female aspirant who attempted to record the incident was attacked, and her phone was forcefully seized by the group.

“Infuriated by this, Mubarak ordered his thugs to seize her phone,” she alleged, adding that the woman was also pushed during the confrontation.

Kingibe further alleged that she personally came under attack during the incident.

“One of Mubarak’s men turned on me… grabbed me, and flung me violently against the wall, hitting my head with severe force,” she said.

She also claimed that the attackers locked the office door, trapping everyone inside before fleeing with the key.

“Realising he was losing control of the room, Mubarak ran to the exit door, locked it, and trapped us inside with himself and his armed thugs,” she stated.

According to her, supporters later broke into the building and rescued those trapped after a violent altercation outside the premises.

Kingibe added that she later received medical treatment for severe headache and blurred vision, with doctors reportedly confirming head trauma.

Following the incident, she said she reported the matter to the ADC national leadership and filed a formal complaint at the Apo Police Station in Abuja.

She called for the arrest and prosecution of those involved, urging the Inspector General of Police and the FCT Police Commissioner to ensure a thorough investigation and swift action against the suspects.
